(According to the Smithsonian Institution, it has been a common practice for centuries to create art and other objects from human hair. The practice was especially popular during the Victorian period, but began to wane around 1929.)

(An old handwritten note (source unknown) identifies this china as having been hand painted by either Anna Gregory's mother or grandmother. The china was passed down from Anna Gregory (born 1777) to a "Mrs. Farwell." Anna's daughter Harriet Gregory Warren married Joseph Farwell (b.1817), and is most likely the "Mrs. Farwell" referred to.

(This plate, made in Germany by R. B. Andrews, is decorated with an image of Allen's Block in Monument Square, Leominster, MA, USA. Allen's Block once housed the piano factory where Joseph Farwell (b.1817) and his son Edwin Crosby Farwell worked as piano finishers. Coincidentally, the plate also mentions Pleasant Street––the Stephen Buss family farm was near Pleasant Street. Leominster has played a significant role in the various branches of the Family Lore genealogical tree.
